James joined in July 2009 as the marketing account manager. Having researched the compliance market and the detail of the producer responsibility regulations, James initially worked as a client account specialist supporting members with the packaging regulations and providing analysis and application of the regulations within extremely varying business environments.
Now managing director, James combines his past market experience and the work undertaken directly with companies to ensure all Ecosurety members benefit from the best possible price and expertise. In 2016 James won the Institute of Directors South West Young Director of the Year award and the Business Leader Rising Star Award. James has a strong enthusiasm for life and enjoys cycling, running and playing the piano. In his spare time he is heavily involved with charities caring for special needs children.
Steve established Ecosurety (originally Budget Pack) in 2003 in response to the lack of flexibility, innovation and customer-focus in the compliance scheme market. He took inspiration from the mobile phone market, which continues to provide a diverse range of pick-and-mix options for the customer, and built the original business on a commitment to provide flexible, friendly and tailored support for all clients.
Ecosurety is now one of the UK's fastest growing sustainable business companies. These days Steve is responsible for implementing new business structures as well as overseeing the acquisition of new business. He is passionate about bringing the latest business concepts from other markets and industries and applying them to the environmental sector for the benefit of clients.
Having studied BSc Environmental Engineering at the University of Cardiff, Steve has always been interested in improvements in environmental efficiency. Previous roles prior to setting up the business included a stint as commercial manager at Wales Environment Trust, and he was also MD for Recycling Market Services and MD for Compliance Wales.
When not working to improve his clients' environmental credentials, Steve enjoys cycling. Last year he cycled over 450 miles from Gloucestershire to Paris to raise money for the Royal British Legion. He also rides tandem bikes with visually impaired adults on weekend cycling trips from Bristol.
After many years working in director roles within the financial sector, Paul brings a wealth of experience to the board of Ecosurety as operations director, joining us in 2016 to oversee the Enterprise, Quality, Procurement and IT teams.
After a stint as a post-graduate qualified Trading Standards Officer, Paul worked for almost a decade at DAS UK group, culminating in his final role as chief operating officer for over four years. He has also worked as director of customer resolutions at Legal and General and has held senior positions at BAA, Britannic Money and FirstPlus Financial.
With more than 20 years’ experience under his belt in the tightly regulated financial services industry, it’s fair to say that Paul is the man to help ensure Ecosurety always delivers the very best compliance solutions for our members. We should also mention that as a 2nd Dan black belt in Karate, he is a master of discipline and control - he certainly knows his Sensei from his Dojo!
Luke is our associate director for human resources, developing our staff and teams to ensure we are flexible and proactive for our members. He is passionate about enabling people to realise their full potential and protecting the environment, so naturally Ecosurety felt like a perfect fit.
Having studied Mathematics and Statistics at Bath University a life of numbers in the big smoke beckoned and Lou studied for her Chartered Accountancy at Saffery Champness in the Business Advisory Group as an auditor. After qualifying, a nine month expedition to South America, Japan, Australia and South East Asia followed before Lou returned to the West Country where she had originally grown up.
After a spell at Lloyds banking group she took on the role of financial controller at Northcroft Construction Ltd, overseeing the implementation of new systems, a relocation of the finance team and numerous modernisation processes. A move to Matthew Clark as a Finance Manager gave Lou the additional commercial experience of working on acquisitions and new ventures alongside the Divisional MD before joining Ecosurety in March 2015.
Outside work Lou plays Softball in the Clifton Softball League, tries to go to the gym at least twice a week and enjoys sampling the numerous eateries in Bristol with friends and family.
As commercial manager Robbie is responsible for ensuring that all Ecosurety members benefit from the best possible value for money and specialist expertise. Having previously worked as our relationship team manager it is fair to say that he fully understands our members interests and needs!

His passion for understanding and communicating the legislation means he is ideally suited to managing larger accounts.
Before joining us, Robbie previously worked in sustainability and corporate social responsibility for IKEA, which gave him first-hand experience of our members' needs. His passion for the environment began while studying BSc Geography at University of Leeds.
Away from the office, Robbie enjoys surfing, touch rugby, football and climbing. Sounds exhausting to us. His not-so-hidden talent is that he can sing and play guitar, which may or may not mark him down as a show-off.
Damian is our head of projects, with several roles. He helps support current business strategies, as well as developing new opportunities and making new business relationships.
Damian’s background is large and diverse. For the last 16 years he has been running his own businesses, ranging from a beach café, restaurant, dive centre, IT company, computer importer and retailer in the South West, plus work in recycling companies. One of the most notable companies was A1 Compliance, one of the original WEEE producer compliance schemes. It has recently merged with Ecosurety.
Having been in the recycling industry for the last 16 years, both with physical recycling of WEEE, plastics, cardboard and paper, as well as legal compliance, Damian has a wide skillset and knowledge base in the industry.
Outside of work, Damian served for 18 years as a volunteer coastguard rescue officer in Falmouth, Cornwall; he also enjoys martial arts, and competes regularly. And he enjoys playing golf despite being possibly the world’s worst ever player! Passionate about the marine environment, Damian is also an amateur marine conservationist and loves diving and surfing.

Regularly inputting into the exclusive working groups with BIS, DEFRA and the Agencies to implement the latest waste management and producer responsibility regimes, Mark is helping to lead the way for Ecosurety members. He is now applying this knowledge and service delivery expertise to a wider European compliance service for the global markets of our bigger members.
Presenting complex subject matter and leading change to business process and operations with our largest members, Mark also heads up our sustainability product development team looking at a broader range of social, economic and environmental impacts.
His love of the outdoors often inspires Mark to mountain bike or road cycle to a good tea shop, but the draw of great food and beautiful, idyllic destinations has been known to pull him much further afield!
