Investors in People Gold – what it means for you as a member

After many years of hard work and following rigorous assessment, we were thrilled to receive a prestigious Investors in People Gold award, but what exactly does it mean for you, as an end user of our services?

Last week witnessed a momentous occasion at ecosurety HQ that was cause for great celebration and joy – after many years of hard work and following rigorous assessment, we were thrilled to receive a prestigious Investors in People Gold Award.

Recognised the world over, IIP accreditation quite simply demonstrates a clear commitment to the people who make up an organisation – it really does exactly what it says on the tin! With only 7% of IIP accredited organisations achieving the gold standard, our team quite rightly feel extremely proud of their achievement, but what exactly does it mean for you, as an end user of our services?

1. A motivated team

The IIP accreditation provides assurance that we are investing heavily in the development, progression and performance of our team. How are we doing this? Well, opportunities abound for all our staff with targeted training, self-set goals, clear processes, mentoring, a no-blame culture and transparent career progression, to name but a few. From ‘fresh talent’ discovered in our graduate recruitment process through to experienced industry specialists, all of our team benefit from the same developmental journey.

What does this mean for you, the customer?
Our knowledge sharing extends beyond our team– we don’t like to keep it to ourselves! - so we share the latest information and best practice with you, from webinars and seminars to email updates and meetings. In fact we like to think that we sit on the same side of the table as our members, working alongside you to fully understand your perspective.

The investment in our team also translates directly into excellent customer service from an enthused, knowledgeable and highly trained workforce, for whom going the extra mile comes naturally. Indeed we pride ourselves on the fact that our team are not afraid of thinking ‘outside of the box’, harnessing creativity to offer the best solution to our member’s specific needs. Quite often this entails us exploring new avenues that result in a broader range of services and expertise we can offer all our members.

2. A committed team

It’s all well and good training your staff to be the best, but that’s no good if they don’t stick around for very long! A high retention rate of staff is one of our key strengths, and it is testament to our focus on wellbeing and our core values of Protect, Inspire, Perform. This includes numerous benefits that our team enjoy such as flexible working hours, home working, cycle purchase scheme, free gym membership, sports clubs and rewards for successes – all the little extras that make a big difference to the all important work/life balance.

Also, as an environmentally focused employer we attract green minded staff and we do our best to harness this as much as possible. With socially responsible projects that run alongside our day-to-day work, we allow our team to go beyond their job descriptions to maximise our positive impact on the environment and our stakeholders. Just take a look at joinmyjourney for example, our project from 2015 that won an award for a member of our team and is now preparing to roll out across the UK.

For 2016 our team are busy developing interactive workshops for school children to educate them about waste – watch this space...

What does this mean for you, the customer?
High staff retention rates and a passionate workforce result in a consistent point of contact, strong customer relationships and a specialist team who genuinely care about what they do.

Importantly our passion for being ‘green’ extends not only to our own actions, you’ll find our team are eager to help others make a change for good too. It keeps coming back to our values of Protect, Inspire, Perform.

3. Benchmarked against the best

Now it’s all well and good thinking you’re doing a great job, but how can you be really sure you’re maximising the potential of your staff and leading best practice? Arguably the greatest benefit of the IIP independent assessment framework is that it provides a clear benchmark against the very best performing companies, with extensive employee interviews and key indicators of high performance combining to not only ‘score’ our performance, but also to drive improvement into the future.

What does this mean for you, the customer?
Quite simply, reassurance - that ecosurety is on a journey of continual improvement, focussed on aligning our people management with our business goals and ambitions. Ultimately we are committed to drive improved business performance to stay ahead of the curve of ‘what excellent looks like’.

The best thing, for us and our members, is that is doesn’t end here. We are now on the road to become IIP champions in the future, an exciting opportunity to act as a role model to the IIP community and the wider business population, acting as thought leaders in the fields of HR and leadership.

We’ve achieved gold, can you do it too?

We are already talking to some of our members who are just starting on this road and we have plenty of advice to share that can help make it an easier journey! If you want to know more about making those first steps, simply contact our HR team, at people@ecosurety.com who will be more than happy to share our experience.
